Welcome back to a FULL week of school again parents and campers!
This week...
THRoW: I am sending home our second and final THRoW for Non-Fiction this week. Please make sure your child reads over my feedback on their first Non-Fiction THRoW before beginning this new one.
Coming Home: Tonight your child is coming home with their Math assessment on Addition and Subtraction as well as their Science assessment. This Math assessment will be averaged with the first one on representing numbers to give an overall mark for T1 Report Card. Please go over, sign and return as soon as possible. Overall, students did very well. We DO however, need to work on answering levelled questions with as much information from the unit as possible. This is a work in progress and students will get into the grove with increased practise. Using the vocabulary and information from the unit filled with examples is key to achieving a level 4.
For example:
Level 4:
Do you think structures have a positive or a negative impact on our environment? Use information from the unit and your science vocabulary in your answer.
I think structures can have both positive and negative impacts on our environment. First, the positive impact is that structures provide us with safe places to live such as houses and apartment buildings. They keep us safe from weather. Also, structures such as schools give us a safe place to learn. Museums and movie theatres give us places to go and enjoy entertainment. Also, factories give us a place to work and earn money and produce such important items such as cars, shelves, furniture, toys, etc. The negative impact would be on the natural habitats that get destroyed when building on the land. Also, important soil we need for planting food is covered and unusable. Factories also create pollution which is unhealthy for us to breathe. Cutting down trees, decreases our clean air, as trees and plants clean our air. So, as you can see, structures have both positive and negative impacts on our environment.
That's all for now!
